Citizen Photo | Electronics workers call for reinstatement of union leaders
May 14, 2014
Around 1,000 workers of NXP Semi-conductors Cabuyao Inc., maker of electronic parts for giant international firms such as Microsoft, Apple, Samsung, Nokia, Asus, Bosch, Siemens, and others, managed to breach police barricades and held a protest at the company’s compound inside the Light Industry & Science Park in Cabuyao, Laguna.
The workers are protesting the termination of 24 union leaders amidst ongoing Collective Bargaining Negotiations, which they say is a form of union-busting. The officials were terminated last May 7 on the grounds of not appearing for work on government-declared holidays, including May 1, Labor Day.
