Farmers from Hacienda Luisita today trooped to the Jose Cojuangco & Sons building in Makati City to condemn the recent attacks  by the Cojuangco-owned Tarlac Development Corporation (TADECO) to drive them away from their lands. They say that land reform continues to be a “sham” with a Cojuangco sitting as the country’s president. The farmers brought scarecrows to symbolize their commitment to “ward off the reign of impunity and terror” in Hacienda Luisita, citing the bulldozing of their homes, militarization, and the killing of a farmer last November. The protest action was one of many being held this week in commemoration of the 27th anniversary of the Mendiola Massacre. (Ambala)
